Kissing a Dream

A pink that will not wipe away

Kissing a Dream — a poem by Pemba Umoja

When I travel across the world,
do you know it
or feel it?

Did you feel us kiss
as we flew through the sky?

A small kiss
that I'll never forget.

The more I tried
to wipe the pink lipstick
from my lips,

the more it spread
up my cheeks,
down my chin.

I could barely carry you
as we flew in slow motion
across the sky,

our bodies wrapped
in an embrace.

Now my heart is pink.
My world is pink.
Everywhere I turn
is pink.
