The Hourglass
Where love outlasts the sands of time
I placed the hourglass on its edge
and watched the sand roll on through.
To everything there is an end,
I muse.
But in thine eye and my love for thee,
the sands of the hourglass reach
miles high beyond the sky.
The particle of my life is the
first of the sands to plummet,
but my love for thee
fills all the sands, the hourglass itself,
and even the hand of fate which
turns to hither and thither—
for my love in thee
it cannot defeat.
