Still Blue

A quiet hour with crickets, breezes, and sun

Still Blue — a poem by Pemba Umoja

Hiding behind

the screen

listening to crickets

and breezes

snuggling with the warm sun

our time to commune

I’ve had my human time

and conversations

but I haven’t spoken to the grass today

nor the tree limbs

nor the deer

they don’t drink

coffee but that’s okay

they deserve forgiveness

there is enough fresh air

for their cups

at least for now

we still remember its scent

when the skies were still blue
