Sleepy Dreamer

A dream within a dream

Once upon a sleepy dreamer,
a rolling wave turned into a tiger
and walked along the shore.
"What do you want?"
asked the sleepy dreamer
to the tiger,
but the tiger did not reply.
He only watched.
Inside the tiger's eye,
the sleepy dreamer spotted the moon
rising from the sea.
And as that moon rose,
a rolling wave morphed into a monkey
and walked along the shore.
"What do you want?"
asked the sleepy dreamer
to the monkey,
but the monkey did not reply.
He only watched.
And inside the monkey's eye,
the sleepy dreamer spotted the tiger
sleeping so soundly
and snoring upon the moon.
