Seeing Everything

What the closed eye can hold

Seeing Everything — a poem by Pemba Umoja

I went everywhere
but I didn't see everything.

It is impossible to see everything.

All the parts.
All the rivers.
All the mountains.
Valleys.
Forests.
Towns.

It is impossible to know all the people.
Speak all the languages.
Know all the cultures.

It is only when we close our eyes
that we can see everything.
without even going anywhere.
