Sailing into Orion

A voyage with no return.

Sailing into Orion — a poem by Pemba Umoja

Sailing into Orion
on a ghost ship.

I, alone.

The bridge has been darkened.
The Captain gone astray,
not a soul lingers,

only rows of empty cabins,
dangling rigging.

The engine still lulls against
the sound of lapping waves.

I, alone—

sitting at the bow,
steadily,
bound for Orion,

timelessly,
waiting to arrive.
