Raindrops

Raindrops telling time

Raindrops — a poem by Pemba Umoja

“I wish I could run in the rain,” said the old woman to the young man who was drenched in raindrops.

The pitter patter of raindrops
fell on the windows

telling time
in ripples.

The young man
was leaving the clouds
flying with the gray winds.

The old woman
had touched down
flowing within deep puddles.

It was just a matter of
pitter patters.

Raindrops
telling time

carrying our fates
in every drop.
