Hero Rises

only foes celebrate the fall of a hero.

Sin is a
dark knight
descending
on the
innocent

coaxing them
into
temptation

wrapping them
in a web
of woes.

What’s the
thrill of sin?

a boost
a jolt

a rise then a fall
a long guilt-ridden
fall.

a loss of face
to self
to family
to God

only foes
celebrate the
fall of a hero.

but God
never ever abandons him
no matter how many times
he slips

as long as he surrenders
every morsel
of his soul.
