Deer

Instinctive grace through meadow, stream, and orchard.

Deer — a poem by Pemba Umoja

Prancing deer,
you know not,
and yet you choose direction
with such exactness.
You tear with grace
through fields of butterfly lilies,
cross streams of jumping trout,
pass orchards pungent with
ripened fruit.
Yet, you know not.
