Dance of the Wind

Wind chimes between silence and sound

Dance of the Wind — a poem by Pemba Umoja

Just take a minute

like the deer do

bad example

like windchimes do in between

breezes

the silence just hangs there

the birds and crickets fill it

the rustling leaves you never notice in the wind

your own breath rising and falling

and there they are again

the chimes

the pendulum swings

but doesn’t touch the tubes

try as it may

but it doesn’t really matter anymore

in a world where silence and sound dance together

sometimes in a rumba

sometimes in a waltz

like windchimes

awaiting a twirl
